Combining three niche technologies, Motor Imagery (MI), Virtual Reality and Functional Electrical Stimulation, recoveriX is an innovative and unique brain-computer interface (BCI) technology for the rehabilitation of stroke patients and patients with other neurological deficits. It helps the patient regain functions and motor movements of the upper and lower extremities ranging from decreases in pain, spasticity, tremor, to improvements of concentration, motor movements, passive joint movements, sensitivity and gait.recoveriX supplements standard physical and occupational therapy with the chance for a quicker and more successful recovery. Also, when standard therapy can no longer yield any further improvement, recoveriX provides a second chance. It can be used in the acute, sub-acute, or chronic states – even 10, 20 or 30 years after the stroke!In recoveriX treatment, Patients are instructed to imagine a hand or a foot movement. Once the recoveriX system has recognized the motor imagery successfully, virtual reality and functional electrical stimulation will be activated.
